Emma Alcalá

Emma Alcalá (Córdoba, 1983) studied artistic photography at the art school and later trained in the field of artistic cinematography direction at the cinematography school in Seville.

She has participated in numerous film shoots, advertising spots, and documentaries. Additionally, she has collaborated in publications of magazines, catalogues, and press.

She has worked for the universities of Córdoba and Seville. She also worked for two years in the clinical psychology department of the Virgen Macarena University Hospital in Seville. Meanwhile, she was preparing documentation for a sensory story about a child with autism and assisting with animal-assisted therapy for people with functional diversity.

She has exhibited on several occasions at the Annual Biennial of Photography, winning in one category with her work Geisha (Cultural Silence).

One of her photographs is in the Empordà Museum. The work: «Identity».

In recent years, she has held the following exhibitions:

  • «Palabras arrebatadas», at the Rafael Botí art center.
  • «Desde lo invisible», as part of the 'Invisible Kidnapping' project by the OFS.
  • «La tercera mirada», at the Ca l’Anita exhibition hall in Roses.
  • Installation «Disidentes», alongside «La Veu Lila» at the Cau de Vilafant.
  • Installation «When Viola met Vargas» at the Góngora House in Córdoba.
